Duties of the position include but are not limited to the following:
Leads the Service's radio program management team.
Responsible for the oversight, planning, implementation and maintenance of land radio systems spread across the United States.
Plans, manages and leads a variety of radio projects from inception to completion simultaneously.
Ensures the Service maintains a viable framework to communicate, coordinate and collaborate with FWS Program, Regional and Field Office leadership on all radio and spectrum management issue across the Service.
Ensures the Service maintains an accurate inventory of all radio systems, radio towers and frequency allocations operated within the Service and ensure that all comply with federal laws and regulation, Department of the Interior (DOI or Department) and Service standards.
Leads a small team of federal employees and contractors and communicates to the team the operations and program's assignments, projects, milestones, action items, and issues under review to meet deadlines and time frames for completion of work.
Monitors and reports on the status and progress of work, checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work to see that the Program Manager's instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines and quality have been met on statuses for inclusion in reports such as the monthly status reporting, Corrective Action Plans (CAP) reports, and other reporting requirements.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics):
Knowledge of a wide range of technical methods in the detailed performance characteristics of specified telecommunications equipment, systems, networking and transmission media.
In-depth understanding of basic electronics and antenna theory, Internet Protocol (IP) configuration and network operating principles.
Knowledge of telecommunications systems security principles and methods to implement and manage systems, network, and data that ensures confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
Skill in oral communication to coordinate work assignments clearly with the team.
Knowledge of process improvement techniques.
