    This position resides in the Safety Risk Management Division (AFB-400). The Safety Risk Management (SRM) Division is responsible for the application of safety and quality management within the Service and for identifying risks that transcend individual regulated entities, straddle multiple sectors of the industry, and/or rise to the level at which they require national or governmental attention.

    Duties and responsibilities:

    The incumbent with serve as an Organizational and Technical Risk Analyst (OTRA) applying experience and comprehensive knowledge of management analysis and evaluation techniques for utilizing descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive analytics to manage system level and organizational risk. The incumbent is responsible for discerning varying data analytics to identify and evaluate risk, determine organizational impact, assign priority, recommend mitigation strategies, and visually communicate all of the above to varying audiences for action-oriented comprehension. The OTRA utilizes risk-based decision making to ensure all available information is considered. The OTRA will demonstrate competency in applying continuous improvement methodologies to design innovative displays of data that create context and advise decision makers on how to optimize results.

    Interprets and evaluates correlated data to provide meaningful insights to assess the existence and controls of system level and organizational risks.

    Prepares visual data presentations that provide predictive and prescriptive analytics practically, with context, to enable informed management decisions

    Creates and tailors meaningful and relevant data visualizations to the appropriate decision making level (Office, Division, Executive) to ensure data can be easily interpreted and acted upon.

    Develops recommendations for process and control improvement by using risk based thinking and traditional process improvement systems or related skills.

    Established policies/procedures provide guidance for most assignments, but allow considerable discretion for employee to select the most appropriate approach(es) or develop new approaches. Assignments regularly require interpretations of internal and external policies and extrapolations from precedents.

    Resolves most problems and work issues without the assistance of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional. Develops and recommends approaches to address current and anticipated problems and issues. Works with management and/or more experienced professionals to solve problems.

    Work is reviewed rarely, typically though status reports and at project completion, to ensure policy compliance and alignment with the requirements of projects and/or other work activities.

    Incumbent accomplishes other duties as assigned.

    Occasional travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis. The travel may be for training or other work-related duties.
