Open to current Career/Career Conditional employees of the National Park Service, and CTAP eligibles. Only current National Park Service employees who have been permanently employed by NPS for 5 or more years are eligible for this fellowship.
The Legislative Affairs Specialist (Bevinetto Fellow) spends one year working as a Professional Staff Member for a Member of Congress or a congressional committee, generally reporting to the staff director of the assigned office.
The other year of the Bevinetto Fellowship is spent working with the NPS office of Legislative and Congressional Affairs or providing assistance to the NPS Directorate in other ways.
The major duties of the Legislative Affairs Specialist (Bevinetto Fellow) include, but are not limited to, the following:
There is no substitution of education for experience at the grade level(s) of this announcement.
Promotion to the full performance level is neither guaranteed nor implied and will be based solely on your ability to satisfactorily perform the work of the position, existing work at the higher grade level, and recommendation by the position's supervisor.
Physical Demands: Occasional physical activity is required including walking or hiking during field inspections. The work is often accomplished under short deadlines requiring working at top peak on several projects at a time, over an extended period of time. When Congress is in session, work days may require more than the standard eight hours.
Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily in an office setting, although there are occasional visits to field areas.
The National Park Service has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.
