    • Identify volatile or signature natural biomarkers that signal microbial pathogen presence and thus allow for the removal of contaminated food product from stored material.
    • Identify volatiles, natural products and metabolites and design chemical formulations that inhibit microbial pathogen contamination in food products.
    • Determine metabolic shifts of pathogens in response to environmental cues including microbicides.
    • Identify natural compounds (e.g. natural volatile constituents of plants and insects) that attracts (as a lure), deters insect feeding, mating or host-plant finding behaviors to reduce insect feeding that damages protective plant tissues.
