Responsible for the oversight of the physical education, fitness training and testing, intramurals, competitive clubs and intercollegiate programs for USAF Academy Preparatory School; and coordinates all major policy, strategic planning, personnel, public relations and financial decisions through the Athletic Director and Preparatory School Commander for final approval prior to implementation. Assist the Director of Athletics with mission and operational execution of the Athletic Department for ~240 cadet-candidates. Laisses and synchronize with USAFA Athletic Department leadership, 27 NCAA coaching staffs, fitness testing branch, reconditioning branch, and education branch to ensure consistent programming.
Manages all facets of an intercollegiate sports program including but not limited to: Game/practice planning, logistical operations, scheduling, budgeting, recruitment, safety, and strength and conditioning of Football, Men's and Women's Basketball, Wrestling, Soccer, and any of the other 27 sports represented by USAFAPS student athletes. Effectively manages sports programs in full compliance with rules, regulations, and bylaws of NCAA, NJCAA, MWC, and USAFA.
Evaluates student's performance, leadership and officer potential, and provides counseling as necessary. Identifies student deficiencies in academics, military, or/and physical standards and motivates students to improve study skills, become more physically adept, and ultimately gain an appointment to USAFA.
Assists in the administration of all facets of curriculum and performs appropriate administrative functions as required to ensure the timely and effective offering of physical education courses and athletic programs. Maintains membership in appropriate professional organizations, attends conferences, maintains liaison with others in the field to include military and civilian universities, and follows new developments to stay current with coaching and teaching techniques.
