    Summary

    This position is located in the Genetics, Breeding and Animal Health Research Unit, located in Clay Center, NE.

    The incumbent serves as a support scientist responsible for Research and Development (R&D) activities within the Core Laboratory. The Core Laboratory operates instruments for short and long read DNA/RNA sequencing, profiling of microbial metabolism, continuous culturing of microbes and cell lines, proteomics and metabolomics, mammalian cell culture and gene editing.

    Responsibilities

    • Generates and analyzes RNA-seq and Iso-seq data for genome annotation, and immune repertoire sequences for immunogenomics.
    • Operates instruments for short and long read DNA/RNA sequencing, profiling of microbial metabolism, continuous culturing of microbes and cell lines, proteomics and metabolomics, mammalian cell culture, and gene editing.
    • Designs and performs pilot experiments and feasibility testing on all platforms, and addresses compatibility across platforms to ensure the end product meets the needs of the project assigned.
