As an HR ASST (MILITARY) (Title 32), GS-0203-4/5/6, you will provide administrative assistance to one or more of the programs assigned within the MILPO. Work involves dealing with a variety of conventional problems, questions, or situations in conformance with established policy and regulation and provides advice to personnel requesting assistance for the personnel program or specialty area(s) to which they are assigned. The work has a direct effect on the quality and adequacy of service member records, program operations, and services provided through the personnel office and may affect the career of the military member as well as their social and economic well being.
Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence,
Military Grades: Enlisted Only - May not exceed SSG
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Administrative or clerical experience, education, or training which demonstrates the candidate's ability to perform the duties of the position. Experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-06 Level - Must have at least 9 months experience, education or training that provided knowledge of general office work which may include but is not limited to: answering telephones, receiving and distributing mail and maintaining records. Experience following oral or written instructions to accomplish work. Experience establishing and retrieving files and information. Experience using common computer software designed for word processing. GS-05 Level - Must have at least 6 months experience, education or training that provided knowledge of general office work which may include but is not limited to: answering telephones, receiving and distributing mail and maintaining records. Experience following oral or written instructions to accomplish work. Experience establishing and retrieving files and information. Experience using common computer software designed for word processing. GS-04 Level - Must have at least 3 months experience, education or training that provided knowledge of general office work which may include but is not limited to: answering telephones, receiving and distributing mail and maintaining records. Experience following oral or written instructions to accomplish work.
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the lower grade level in the Federal service in order to be considered for this position.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

If you are using Education to qualify for this position, completion of 2 academic years of education in an accredited college or university will satisfy the requirements for GS-4 positions. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience for GS-5 positions.
