    The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is the principal advisor to the Under Secretary and Director on the application of information technology (IT) to support and improve the Agency’s business processes. The Office of Infrastructure Engineering and Operations (IEO) provides day-to-day operational support for USPTO-developed applications.  The Enterprise Software Services Division (ESSD) manages the USPTO Enterprise Applications and provides Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS).The Software Services Branch (SSB) provides technical services for enterprise applications that reside above the OS level, including mission critical systems, such as Active Directory, Exchange Email, Sharepoint, Lync, RightFax, Facility Management Tools and Anti-Virus.This position serves as a technical specialist, providing software services, such as Active Directory and Exchange for both Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) and Automated Information Systems (AIS) software across the USPTO enterprise.

     This position will be responsible for…

    • Developing and integrating software services of new and/or Custom Developed software into enterprise platform services, ensuring scalability, mobility, constant operability and monitoring capability.
    • Ensuring the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices to the delivery of application software services.

    • Performing a wide range of software services on multiple medium to high cost, medium to high impact, and/or medium to high complexity of large scale COTS and USPTO developed systems. 
    • Providing technical input to statements of work, task orders, and other acquisition related documents; uses current Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) procedures to monitor and maintain the system development through production delivery; and prepares appropriate artifact templates, Project Resource Estimation Worksheets (PREWs), status reports, etc.

    • Holding discussions with stakeholders to ensure that work activities conform to business requirements and industry standards.
