EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
In this position you will be responsible for serving as an expert Security Specialist and advisor to management on the evaluation of productivity and efficiency of managed work within FEMA program offices regarding the prevention of fraud, waste, and abuse. Typical duties include:
- Developing both corrective controls and preventive deterrence measures using criteria, methods, and procedures.
- Implementing internal controls including mitigation measures, especially Fraud Program
- Conducting reviews, Inspections, and risk assessments.
- Reviewing and inspecting major agency programs control measures that prevent or detect Fraud.
- Developing recommendations and responses to unique security problems and assessment to mitigate potential impact.
- Presenting, defending, documenting, and justifying rationale for actions, formulating policy, and developing clear and thorough agency policy, instructions, reports, and correspondence.
Occasional travel - This position may require non-emergency travel (10%)
