     EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.

    In this position, you will serve as a Telecommunication Specialist involved in planning, acquisition, implementation and installation of regulated and unregulated radio and wireless technology. Typical assignments include:

    • Developing plans, procedures, and checklists to ensure the operational readiness of mission equipment and personnel.
    • Planning and designing the deployment, placement, installation, integration, operation, maintenance of a large variety of wide and narrow band radio frequency systems band radio frequency systems with their associated ancillary equipment.
    • Performing frequency management function.
    • Performing integration and evaluation of off-the-shelf and prototype radio frequency systems and sub-systems with voice, data, and video telecommunications equipment and tests for compatibility with FEMA standard systems.

    50% or less - Up to 40% travel may be required.
