    The Orlando VA Healthcare System is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as our Informatics RN/back up BCMA Coordinator.

    Responsibilities

    This RN will assist with training of all nursing personnel and rolling out of BCMA to areas outside of inpatient areas as well the responsibility of armbands. He/she will serve as the liaison between administration, clinical staff and Information Technology (IT) staff for BCMA and overall medication management processes. This BCMA Coordinator will work in conjunction with the ADPAC for Nursing Service to respond to the clinical informatics needs of Nursing Service and the Orlando VA Healthcare System, serving as back-up for this ADPAC as needed. The incumbent will be expected to demonstrate flexibility and creativity in providing instruction and directions to staff using the VA Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) /BCMA and will be expected to effectively collaborate with clinical staff in addressing BCMA and other clinical application issues. He/she will direct and coordinate the implementation of VISTA nursing modules and research possible enhancements of other automated systems used in nursing practice; comprehensively test, verify, and update BCMA versions prior to activation, making recommendations for procedural changes as appropriate; evaluate Nursing & BCMA software and recommend future enhancements to the developers; define and prioritize appropriate computerization needs to enhance the delivery of patient care; assist in the development, design, implementation, and analysis of such programs for other service lines/programs; and develop policies and procedures related to BCMA & the Nursing Informatics Program. The BCMA Coordinator utilizes their clinical nursing expertise to optimize patient care quality and nursing productivity, effecting change in nursing practice using data analysis and validation to directly impact patient care delivery. They will provide ongoing assessment and validation of data generated by nursing and take action to address deficiencies by providing identification of individuals/areas needing assistance/ clarification/training. He/she will work with nursing staff to become more proficient with CPRS/BCMA and will be responsible for managing and teaching CPRS/BCMA to new clinical staff and for keeping existing staff informed of updates and changes. This BCMA Coordinator will report directly to the Chief Nurse, Education. Occasional travel to our satellite clinics and Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) will also be required with future BCMA expansion to the outpatient areas.

    Work Schedule: Normal work days/hours will be Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with work day/hour flexibility as patient care needs require.
