    Summary

    This Direct Hire recruitment is to fill positions based on a critical hiring need resulting from the outbreak and spread of the "Coronavirus Disease 2019" (COVID-19), which has caused a public health emergency.     Responsibilities

    As a Veterinary Medical Officer, you will:

    • Serve as a nationally and internationally recognized Senior Veterinary Medical Advisor and liaison between CDC and national and international organizations.
    • Identify and analyze issues and their impact on public health policies as they relate to programs. Consult on, monitor, and measure the outcome of these programs through studies which evaluate the effectiveness of project activities in meeting the needs of the program, the Division, and Center.
    • Serve as a field veterinary medical officer providing veterinary and public health expertise on surveillance systems, outbreak response planning, data collection, training, field research, and related projects for the prevention and control of zoonotic diseases.
    • Collaborate with national human health, animal health, and agricultural organizations to provide on-site technical assistance in developing, coordinating, and improving linkages, systems, and communications.
    • Serve as a principal advisor on veterinary aspects of antimicrobial resistance public health and provides assistance and leadership on policies, activities and operations and technical management at the international, regional, and national level.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
