    Summary

    This position is part of the R9-Assistant Director-Migratory Birds. As a Wildlife Biologist you will be responsible for States, together with Provinces of Canada, later organized into Flyway Councils (Councils) to provide a forum to collectively address migratory bird issues, promote activities of mutual importance, and to represent these interests and better coordinate with the Service.

    Responsibilities

    Serves as principal liaison between the Service and the assigned Flyway Council and other agencies and organizations within the assigned Flyway for cooperative migratory bird management activities by coordinating Federal and State actions to achieve mutual objectives.

    Provides policy advice to the Service Directorate through the Chief, DMBM, regarding migratory bird management issues within the assigned Flyway.

    Communicates Service policies, objectives, and plans to the assigned Flyway Council and its member States, Territories, and Provinces.

    Provides technical guidance and support to the Service and assigned Flyway Council for migratory bird management in the assigned Flyway, including: (1) population objectives, (2) harvest objectives, (3) habitat conservation objectives, (4) management and research needs, (5) public information and education, and (6) hunting regulations.

    Provides international coordination with cooperating agencies/organizations in Canada, Russia, Mexico, and Japan directed at migratory bird management issues of mutual concern in the assigned Flyway.
