    Responsibilities

    Joining Customs & Border Protection will allow you to use your expertise in complex latent fingerprint examination, concepts and methods to support Laboratories and Scientific Services Directorate (LSSD).

    This position starts at a salary of $76,721.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $99,741.00 (GS-12, Step 10) with promotion potential to $99,741 (GS-12 Step 10).

    In this position, you will become a key member of the Laboratories and Scientific Services team performing the below typical work assignments:

    • Plans, coordinates and implements selected fingerprint program activities.
    • Conducts the most complex, delicate and sensitive latent print examinations to visualize, enhance and identify fingerprints or prints of palms, toes and soles on any surface.
    • Uses a wide variety of scientific processes and chemical treatments to examine prints.
    • Prepares laboratory reports and oral presentations on the case findings from the latent print examination(s).
