    Summary

    Incumbent serves as an accounting technician and alternate teller (agent cashier) for the Accounting Section within the Financial Management Service at the Iowa City VA Health Care System. The incumbent performs accounting and agent cashier duties along with rotational assignments to support workload needs.

    Responsibilities

    Major duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Maintains accounts and accounting transactions via accounting and financial systems.
    • Processes transactions to include purchase orders, deposits, debit vouchers, returned checks, and travel card requests.
    • Researches and analyzes discrepancies to determine corrective actions to adjust accounts.
    • Assists accounting supervisor by training employees and customers to use financial and accounting systems.
    • Adheres to security precautions are to protect sensitive data.
    Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
