    This position is located at the Lincoln VA Medical Center, the position is assigned varying duties related to diagnostic imaging. The overall responsibility for the performance standards of diagnostic imaging, fluoroscopy, and DEXA are in coordination with the ARRT and JCHO standards. Employees perform routine procedures under general supervision.

    Major duties include but are not limited to:

    • Receives and interprets all radiology request. Inputs pertinent radiology information into computer. Registers exam requests and case edits them once complete, cancels and edits exams via VISTA system.
    • Properly identifies the correct patient using appropriate patient identifiers prior to exam.
    • Performs DEXA scans to JCHO and ARRT specifications ensuring diagnostic quality studies for interpretation by the Radiologist.
    • Assists the radiologist with basic fluoroscopy exams such as, but not limited to, modified barium swallows, esophagrams, and upper G.I. and small bowel studies.
    • Works with the radiologist and other technologists as a member of the radiographic team. Confers with radiologists to determine requirement of nonstandard exams.
    • Responsible for explaining exams to patients so that patients understand what is to be done as well as what hazards, if any, are possible.
    • Maintains administrative accountability for departmental equipment and supplies. Anticipate needs for supplies and equipment vs. the cost and provide them well in advance.
    Work Schedule: The tour of duty for this position is typically Monday 0800-1630, Tuesday 0800-1630, Every other Wednesday 1000-1830, Every 4th Saturday as part of a rotation from 0800-1200, when working on a Saturday in the pay period we would have a Tuesday in the pay period reflect 0800-1200. Additional information may be provided during the interview process.
