The Fraud Section investigates and prosecutes complex white-collar criminal cases across the country and implements and coordinates the Department's fraud enforcement policy. This posting is for two Assistant Deputy Chief Positions in the Health Care Fraud Unit (HCF) for: (1) the Miami and Tampa/Orlando Health Care Fraud Strike Forces and (2) the National Rapid Response Strike Force (NRRSF) in Washington, DC. The incumbent will serve as an Assistant Deputy Chief in the HCF Unit. The Assistant Deputy Chief will assist the Chief, Senior Deputy Chiefs, and Unit Deputy Chiefs in all aspects of Section leadership and in national and international law enforcement efforts to combat white-collar crime.

The Fraud Section's HCF Unit is comprised of 81 prosecutors whose core mission is to prosecute health care fraud and opioid-related schemes involving: (1) patient harm; and/or (2) large financial loss to the public fisc. The HCF Unit has a successful Strike Force Model for effectively and efficiently prosecuting health care fraud-related cases across the United States, including cases involving the illegal distribution of prescription opioids.
The Strike Forces are modeled on a cross-agency collaborative approach, bringing together the investigative and analytical resources of the FBI, the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (HHS-OIG), the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Center for Program Integrity (CPI), and other agencies (e.g., DEA, IRS, DCIS), along with the prosecutorial resources of U.S. Attorney's Offices and state and local law enforcement partners.
The NRRSF will investigate and prosecute complex health care fraud and opioid-related matters using proactive data analytics and other investigative techniques. The NRRSF will also support existing Strike Force matters, as needed.
The Assistant Deputy Chief for the Miami and Tampa/Orlando HCF Strike Forces may be based in Washington, DC or South Florida; the NRRSF Assistant Deputy Chief is based in Washington, DC, but will be required to travel across the country.
