The position serves as a Cybersecurity expert in the Cybersecurity and Privacy Division, Office of the Chief Information Officer, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Inspects, assesses, tests, validates and reports risks posture of Information Systems for compliance with Federal and Department of Transportation (DOT) Cybersecurity requirements in support of the CS/IA mission of the administration.Learn more about this agency
The IT Specialist (Cybersecurity):
- Provides technical advice and direction to peers, developers, functional proponents, program managers, directors, colleagues and peers on the chartering basis, applicability, and interrelationships forming the RMF Assess only program which was mandated by Federal IT Management Reform Act (Clinger-Cohen Act) and the Federal Information Security Modernization Act. Must follow various other DOT and FMCSA memoranda, instructions, regulations, and guides and assess IS compliance with stated regulatory requirements.
- Develops and disseminates IT policy, procedure and protocol documents. Comments on other proposed or continuing policies and practices impacting upon the regional program. Directs the analysis, evaluation and processing of urgent, particularly sensitive, new or unusual system approval packages.
- As the Compliance Team lead, technically manages a team of civilian and contractor personnel and oversees contractor compliance (with statement of work) and reports status to the Contracting Officer Representative or Contracting Officer.
The ideal candidate is an experienced go-getter, who knows IT inside and out. Seasoned professionals who are well rounded in Cybersecurity are welcome to apply. Experience with Assessments and Authorization, Vulnerability Management, Continuous Monitoring and system oversight and management. Knowledge of NIST 800-53 V4 a must. Candidate should hold or be able to obtain a CISSP certification.
