    Responsibilities

    As a Research Physical Scientist or Research Biologist, you will perform the following duties:

    • Design, plan, and implement high-impact independent multidisciplinary research in at-sea, laboratory and office settings to investigate important long and short-term problems in Oceanography, and oversee and manage the program, scientists, and its budget.
    • Conduct and oversee oceanographic investigations centering on interactions between the solid earth and ocean, including the chemical composition and thermal state of inputs to ocean and coastal water masses, and the structure and dynamical processes on the sea floor.
    • Direct and manage a multi-faceted oceanographic research team, contributing advanced expertise in national and international fora to improve the understanding of environmental processes in coastal and open-ocean systems.
    • First-author, formulate, and write scientific papers for publication in refereed high-impact national and international journals. Present research results as first author at key national and international meetings and scientific conferences.

    Occasional travel - Up to 10% domestic travel may be required for this position.
