    This position is a Forage Agronomist at the USDA-ARS Pasture Systems and Watershed Management Research Unit (PSWMRU), University Park, PA. The mission of the Unit is to support environmentally and economically sustainable farming in the northeastern U.S. by improving agroecosystem management.

    • Design, implement, analyze and publish complex grazing-based experiments with the use of professional knowledge of agronomy, plant science, soil science, and animal science to promote the economic and environmental sustainability of systems.
    • Employ, modify and develop methodologies to test new hypotheses, protocols, and strategies individually and as part of a multidisciplinary team to solve complex problems related to grazing-based dairy and livestock systems.
    • Utilize an array of field-based experiments, computer models, statistical procedures, and synthesis of published information within agronomic and environmental disciplines.
    • Conduct research using R, MATLAB, or similar software to analyze large data sets from systems such as Eddy Covariance or meteorological stations.
    • Contribute to national research networks such as the ARS LTAR (Long Term Agroecosystem Research) and work with partners across these networks to integrate pasture-based dairy and livestock systems into visions for sustainable intensification.
