As an Environmental Protection Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
- Formulate, execute and oversee compliance with environmental regulations conducted under the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) and all other applicable Federal environmental statutes including the Endangered Species Act (ESA), Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA), and Magnuson-Stevens Act (MSA), National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA).
- Formulate plans and environmental analysis documentation to make decisions or recommendations significantly changing, interpreting or expanding important National Ocean Service (NOS) policies and programs.
- Oversee integration of environmental planning with program planning and execution.
- Coordinate and engage with external federal agencies to effectively coordinate NEPA and consultation requirements across federal agencies.
Occasional travel - Up to 10% of domestic travel may be required for this position.
