    Salary:

    GS-11 - $70,181 (Step 01) to $91,234 (Step 10);

    GS-12 - $84,118 (Step 01) to $109,358 (Step 10);

    NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired at the Step 01.

    Responsibilities

    As a Computer Scientist within the Fort Collins Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:

    • Researches computer science topics including service-oriented information architectures, open source software trends, and continuous integration and
      deploy models for complex software products.
    • Designs and develops web-based mapping applications for scientific collection, management, visualization, and distribution of geospatial data based on
      open source technologies.
    • Communicates technical computer science concepts, including serving as Point of Contact on the highly technical aspects of software product development.
    • Designs and develops software systems in an agile scientific software development environment to address ecological and natural resource challenges.

    Physical Demands: Office work is primarily sedentary and office-based. Some work may involve travel to and attendance at meetings, conferences and field sites away from the work site. The work does not require any special efforts.

    Work Environment: The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. The work environment involved everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions. The employee may be exposed to uncomfortable conditions in such places as field approval.
