    Summary

    The position is located in the Office of Terrorist Detentions, Bureau of Counterterrorism (CT/TD). CT/TD is responsible for the formulation of the Department's policies and initiatives regarding: 1) foreign terrorist fighter (FTF) detentions and repatriations; and 2) the capture, disposition, and transfer of detainees to/from the detention facilities at Guantanamo Bay. 

    If eligible, applicants to this announcement may be referred to other positions in other Bureaus/Offices in the Department.

    Responsibilities

    • Serves as initial point of contact for all incoming actions regarding assignment from Departmental offices, U.S. embassies/posts, other U.S. government agencies, international organizations, foreign governments, and non-governmental organizations.
    • Monitors developing political situations or issues of administrative management as reported or identified in various notifications received.
    • Monitors political, economic, social, military, and other significant developments and trends in order to gauge the effectiveness of, and facilitate, efforts to achieve U.S. foreign policy objectives in the assigned area(s).
    • Analyzes, political, economic and other reporting from a variety of sources that include U.S. missions, non-governmental organizations, and foreign electronic and print media within the region of interest to understand the current situation.
    • Provides informational consultations and orientations to colleagues and management officials in the Department and the interagency arena.
