The Incumbent applies analytical and evaluative techniques to identify, consider and resolve issues or problems
of a procedural or factual nature. Issues or problems deal with not only observable conditions written guidelines covering work methods and procedures, but involve efficiency and effectiveness of program operations carried out by administrative or operational personnel. This involves applying for analyzing data. Performs administrative support tasks regarding cemetery gravesite discrepancy reports. Carefully gathers, sorts, screens, analyzes, and reports data, and findings. Applies a range and sequence of analytical steps appropriate for the assigned duties, or portions of studies, form planning through fact-finding to reporting results. Have a strong understanding of the BOSS system; attention detail; ability to identify and resolve discrepancies; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Assignments are of limited complexity involving conventional problems which can be resolved through the selection and application of a variety of standard analytical techniques and procedures Maintains personal, telephone contact and liaison with military personnel, clergy, civic representatives, funeral directors, VSOs, and the general public regarding burial, interment scheduling, eligibility issues, NCA, and cemetery regulations, policies and procedures.
Performs public outreach as needed.
This is a temporary appointment not to exceed 1 year. Temporary appointments are non-status, nonpermanent appointments of limited duration for one year or less. Should the need warrant, temporary appointments may be extended without further competition up to a maximum of one additional year (for a total of two years, or 24 months within the preceding three year or 36 months' period). The appointment to a temporary position does not confer eligibility for promotion, reassignment, or transfer to other positions or the ability to be non-competitively converted to permanent employment.
Work schedule: Required to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. May include occasional weekends. Due to the mission of the National Cemetery, the cemetery cannot be closed for more than 2 consecutive days at any given time. Additionally, when a Federal holiday falls on a Monday or Friday, staff may be required to work on that holiday or a Saturday. All staff is required to work Memorial Day and Veteran's Day each year. Staff will be required to work overtime, weekends and holidays when necessary to meet the needs of the cemetery. Occasionally staff may be called back to the facility to perform emergency overtime work.
