    The Histopathology Technicians possess the knowledge and skills to process anatomical tissue and cytological cell samples obtained from the Veteran by a clinician. The work performed by Histopathology Technicians is vital for pathologists to interpret laboratory results and provide diagnoses that allow clinicians to plan appropriate and life-saving treatments for Veterans.

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    - Independently identify Anatomic Pathology specimens.
    - Consult with clinicians and their support staff as to proper procurement, fixation, submission and labeling of Anatomic
    Pathology specimens for diagnosis.
    - Perform pre- and post-analytical duties for pathology and cytology specimens.
    - Perform complex embedding of surgical and cytology specimens.
    - Perform complex microtomy of FFPE blocks.
    - Utilize comprehensive knowledge to problems solve issues with Hematoxylin and Eosin and Papanicolaou staining of
    diagnostic material.
    - Operate and maintain instrumentation in optimal working order.
    - Select, perform, evaluate and monitor the performance of routine and complex special stains and lmmunohistochemical
    - Perform complex micrographic procedures including slide preparation, staining and permanent specimen preparation in a
    timely efficient manner.
    - Utilizes comprehensive knowledge of complex Histology, Cytology, lntraoperative Procedures, lmmunohistochemistry
    principles, practices, concepts, and theories.
    - Work independently and in concordance with the ardent and dedicated team culture of Anatomic Pathology.

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
