    Summary

    This position is for a Senior Research Economist who works under the supervision of the Lead Health Economist, Data Analytics Branch (DAB), Division of Injury Prevention (DIP). The incumbent is responsible for conducting research related to the economic aspects of the causes, consequences, costs and prevention of injury and violence. Provide leadership on the application of economic principles to the planning, coordination and conduct of injury and violence research and prevention activities.

    Responsibilities

    As a Research Economist you will:

    • Provide scientific leadership in guiding a difficult and complex program of interdisciplinary research studies.
    • Develop program goals, methods of study, and data systems as they relate to the economic aspects of injury and violence.
    • Provide scientific leadership in developing and guiding a difficult and complex research program to assess the economic determinants and impacts.
    • Serve as principal investigator, scientific research project leader, and scientific researcher.
    • Apply economic methods, such as prevention-effectiveness, cost-benefit, and cost-utility analysis.
    • Prepare complete, accurate, concise, and clear reports relating to the program and project area and publishes.
    • Initiates and maintain contacts with health scientists, statisticians, epidemiologists, economists, and other research personnel in government agencies.
    • All other duties assigned.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel Domestic 10 % for this position.
