The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
-Evaluate new technologies that would lead to cost-effective improvements in the OGE Network and its associated security with executive branch-wide implications. Design and develop processes allowing for better delivery of high quality information systems that support the achievement of key agency goals. Implement processes approved by the CIO.
-Identify and evaluate security vulnerabilities in the OGE Network, and develops and recommends (to the CIO) both short and long term plans to minimize risk and/or system security deficiencies. Implement plans approved by the CIO.
-Ensure the OGE Network is in compliance with higher level policy directives and Executive orders governing infrastructure protection. Establish and recommend policies, guidelines, tools, methods, and technologies to ensure agency-wide compliance with OGE Network security practices. Implement policies, guidelines, tools, methods, and technologies approved by the CIO.
-Perform needs analyses on information systems to define opportunities for unique business process solutions within the OGE Network. Make recommendations to the CIO.
-In support of the CIO, consults with customers, other department personnel, and senior management officials to identify and specify highly unusual requirements for the OGE Network.
Relevant experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Specialized experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Specialized experience for this position must include the following:
-Performing IT network design and maintenance to ensure integrity and availability of system networks and data. Examples of such experience may include:
-Participating in software and network infrastructure security via the application of information security assurance policies and practices; AND
-Participating in the delivery of effective solutions to unprecedented conditions that may arise during a hardware or software update or migration process or similar information technology project within an organization; AND
-Participating in the application of network principles and methods to identify network issues, violations, and recommend corrective actions.
In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-13 you must have been at the GS-12level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least 3 months in that appointment.
