This position is in NASA's Agency Pathways Intern Program (Multi-Center) which provides students with the opportunity to explore three of NASA's research centers and gain meaningful developmental work experience. The individuals assigned to this position will perform duties of a developmental nature, with oversight and guidance from experienced engineers in the organization. The interns will perform basic engineering duties based on their academic study.

To be eligible for this position, you must be pursuing a degree in engineering, physical science,
mathematics, life sciences, computer science, or other field of science at an accredited educational

GODDARD SPACE FLIGHT CENTER (GREENBELT, MARYLAND), AMES RESEARCH CENTER
(MOFFETT FIELD, CALIFORNIA), ARMSTRONG RESEARCH FLIGHT CENTER (EDWARDS,
CALIFORNIA), LANGLEY RESEARCH CENTER (HAMPTON, VIRGINIA). ADDITIONALLY, THIS
POSITION REQUIRES YOU TO WORK SPECIFIC SCHEDULES SUCH AS ONE SEMESTER AT
SCHOOL FOLLOWED BY ONE SEMESTER WORKING AT NASA.
You must be able to work a minimum of three work tours prior to graduation. Work tours are defined as
semesters/quarters. You will be expected to work the following schedule: Work tour #1 Summer 2020,
Work tour #2 Spring 2021, Work tour #3 Summer 2021.
If selected, you are expected to report for duty May 26, 2020.
You must be able to work a minimum of three work tours throughout the duration of the internship appointment. Work tours are defined as semesters/quarters. The schedule of school and work rotations is negotiated between the Pathways Intern and the Pathways Program Office. All work tours must be completed by the end of the summer semester before the intern is scheduled to complete their degree requirements.

Position subject to pre-employment background investigation.
If hired, you may be promoted to higher grades based on the amount of education completed and acceptable
performance. However, promotions are not guaranteed.
You will serve a trial period for the duration of the Intern appointment.
Interns may be considered for conversion to a term or permanent appointment within 120 days of completing
degree requirements provided they:
o Successfully completed an academic course of study with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.9 (on a
4.0 scale);
o Complete a minimum of 640 hours of work experience before completing degree requirements;
o Meet the qualification requirements for the position to which they are converted; and
o Maintain acceptable performance.
Eligibility for conversion does not guarantee that NASA will offer conversion.
At NASA, term appointments last from one to six years. If an Intern is converted to a term appointment, they may later be converted to a permanent appointment without competing.
If you are hired and successfully complete your internship program, you may be converted to an engineering
position with promotional potential to the GS-13 level.
