    About the Position: As an Assistant Master XH-5784-14, the incumbent will work under the general supervision of the Master, who issues oral and written instructions pertaining to sailing orders and overall plans of operation, but is entirely responsible for the navigation of the vessel while underway.
    Must obtain Master of Steam and Motor Vessels, and 1600 Gross Ton within 12 months of entrance on duty.

    • Stand a regular watch as Pilot on a 3000 or 4300 H.P. twin-screw diesel powered towboat engaged in towing, river inspection, special trips, and channel patrol operations.
    • Steer vessel from pilot house, using pilot controls for proper speed and direction.
    • Has complete responsibility for the safety of the towboat, vessel, its crew and cargo being towed during watch.

    50% or less - Extensive travel is required.
