    Summary

    The mission of the Employment and Training Administration is to contribute to the more efficient functioning of the U.S. labor market by providing high-quality job training, employment, labor market information, and income maintenance services primarily through state and local workforce development systems.

    This position is outside the bargaining unit.

    Responsibilities

    Serves as State Director assigned the responsibility for planning, implementing, directing, administering, and coordinating the Office of Apprenticeship's apprenticeship and training program in a non-council state.

    Coordinates programs of a statewide nature and serves as the principle advisor to workforce development system, management and labor, government, educational and civic organizations on the promotion and development of apprenticeship and other training programs.

    May participate in conferences with representatives of Federal, State and local agencies, labor and community groups.

    Reviews the work of subordinate and gives technical advice and directives in those areas which present difficult problems because of the complex nature of the industrial area and characteristics of the underdeveloped and unskilled members of the community.

    Conducts periodic programs and compliance reviews to assure conformance with applicable Federal statues, regulations, policies and Office of Apprenticeship objectives.

    Incumbent operates with a high optional level of program responsibility in collaboration with the Regional Director.

    Travel Required

    25% or less - Part of the duties of a State Director is to travel outside of their local commuting area to visit existing and or potential new sponsors and perform Quality Assessments Reviews and or EEO reviews on the program(s). State Director also travel to National and Regional conferences, meetings outside of their local commuting area as well as travel to attend staff training. State Director may also travel to other Office of Apprenticeships on an occasional basis.
