    Summary

    This position serves as the Director, Office of Indian Education (OIE), Office of Elementary and Secondary Education (OESE). The OIE administers the Indian Education Program, Title VI, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act.

    Responsibilities

    As a Program Manager, GS-340-15, you will be responsible for the following duties:

    Advises the Assistant Secretary and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Elementary and Secondary Education on the formulation of policy, the design of operating programs, legislative proposals and controversial and sensitive issues.

    Advises senior Departmental officials and their offices on national trends and future needs of American Indians and Alaska Natives.

    Establishes, reviews, and recommends regulations, policies, procedures, and objectives for administering the programs of OIE. 

    Responsible for the overall management, coordination, and administration of OIE staff, grants, and programs. Provides leadership and direction to a staff of approximately 20 employees involved in the implementation of approximately $110 million of formula and discretionary programs.
