    This position is located in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR), Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory (GFDL), with one vacancy in Plainsboro, NJ.

    Responsibilities

    As a Lead Facility Operations Specialist, you will perform the following duties:

    • Serve as site superintendent of the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory, a two building complex consisting of a 55,000 square foot office building, a 16,000 square foot data center, and ancillary mechanical rooms and enclosures.
    • Manage a comprehensive facility maintenance program for the mechanical, electrical, and building envelop infrastructure for the site and administer a computerized maintenance management system to track building maintenance tasks.
    • Navigate the administrative processes necessary to plan, procure, and implement facilities maintenance, repair and improvement contracts. Administer office space and ensure offices are suitable for occupancy (e.g., painting, floor covering, and furniture, issuing and collecting keys, etc.).
    • Lead staff and contractors, who perform building maintenance; and plan, develop and execute facility repair and improvement projects.

    Occasional travel - Up to 5% domestic travel may be required for this position.
