    Summary

    This position is that of Supervisory Project Engineer. The incumbent oversees, directs or administers the construction and/or maintenance of facilities, structures, or landscapes. He/she provides professional oversight and/or project management for construction or maintenance efforts. Supervises a group of employees performing work at the GS-12 or lower level.

    Responsibilities

    Major Duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Performs planning/design work - determines requirements, reconnaissance, location, and prepares designs, specifications and estimates. Applies an expert knowledge of methods, precedents, and standards to a broad subject-matter field. Work complexities require not only versatility and innovation but frequently require short cuts or compromise that are considered risky.
    • Provides professional engineering/architectural supervision - provides professional advice to peers, subordinates or non-professional administrators or managers. Oversees subordinate professionals (i.e., engineers or architects) work. Serves as technical authority, providing expert advice pertaining to the maintenance of facilities, structures, or landscapes in a large geographical region, or in a complex functional specialization.
    • Performs construction administration work -performs scheduling and layout of operations, and inspection and surveillance of materials, methods, and equipment used in construction. Oversees subordinate professionals (i.e., engineers or architects) work. Serves as technical authority, providing expert advice in the administration of projects and oversight in the construction of facilities, structure, or landscapes in a large geographical region, or in a complex functional specialization.
    • Performs maintenance administration work -provides guidance, development and coordination for the planning, design, and oversight of maintenance projects. Serves as technical authority, providing expert advice pertaining to the maintenance of facilities, structures, or landscapes in a large geographical region, or in a complex functional specialization.
    • Performs production administration work -provides guidance in scheduling and layout of operations, and inspection and surveillance of materials, methods, and equipment used in production. Oversees projects administered by subordinate professionals (i.e., engineers or architects). Reviews subordinates' production plans, specifications and cost estimates for technical adequacy

    Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
