    Some duties may include:

    • Performs scheduling and layout of operations and inspection and surveillance of materials, methods, and equipment used in construction
    • Advises personnel on methods and procedures to be used in special studies on highly complex projects
    • Directs necessary changes and furnishes assistance as required
    • Provides professional advice to improve such plans, specifications and analyses
    • Reviews or directs the review of plans, specifications, and analyses of design submitted by others
    • Provides professional advice to supervision, peers, subordinates or non-professional administrators or managers.
    • Evaluates design objectives, performs complex technical calculations, identifies most economical and efficient procedures for project design and performance considering all influences.
    • Evaluates baseline data and incorporates salient factors into design considerations and solutions.
    • Performs or directs surveys and investigations to establish baseline data necessary to initiate design.
    • Determines requirements, reconnaissance, location, and prepares designs specifications and estimates.
    • Reviews and evaluates shop drawings, samples and material certifications submitted by contractor for contract and performance requirements, recommending approval, rejection or receipt.
    • Plans specific objectives for the program, including required innovations and improvisations.
    • Consults with contractor personnel to resolve difficult and complex unforeseen problems and latent conditions developing during construction.
    Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
