This position is Bargaining Unit. This position requires up to 40% travel.
Travel expenses associated with interview and/or relocation expenses associated with job offer may be paid.

As a Senior Health Physicist in the Commercial, Industrial Research & Development, and Academic Branch, Division of Nuclear Materials Safety, you will perform and coordinate radiological and environmental protection licensing and serve as a senior inspector to lead, plan, conduct, report and integrate findings associated with radiation protection inspections of varied facilities using byproduct, source and/or special nuclear materials. You will investigate and evaluate the most difficult occurrences with radiological safety significance.
Such duties include but are not limited to:
Perform a wide variety of lead duties associated with material licensing and inspection of facilities using byproduct, source and/or special nuclear materials.
Review license applications for all uses of byproduct, source and special nuclear material other then nuclear power production, including the most complex, sensitive, unprecedented and varied applications involving substantial potential radiation hazards and difficult safety analyses, complex operations and significant environmental considerations.
Initiate enforcement action with regional management approval when inspection findings indicate a significant violation of the license or NRC rules and regulations.
Prepare individual reports and coordinates team reports of inspection findings.
Serve as a mentor and coach in the development of new inspectors. Provides guidance to new employees and inspectors undergoing the qualification process.
