    You will serve as a Health Physicist in the Laboratory and Environmental Sciences Branch of the Radiation Health Division of the Radiological Control of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

    • You will perform radioactivity analyses and environmental monitoring services.
    • You will design, develop, implement, and maintain complex analysis instrumentation and associated software and procedures for various types of routine and unusual radioactivity analyses
    • You will provide oversight, direction, and technical assistance for the collection of routine and special environmental samples and survey data.
    • You will function as a group or team leader and direct the work of three or more physical science technician or health physicists at the GS-05 to GS-11 level on a periodic basis.
    • You will oversee the collection of a broad range of radiological surveys and samples necessary to assess the magnitude of the emergency and the risk to shipyard personnel and surrounding community.
    • You will use initiative and ingenuity in selecting, adapting, and applying pertinent guidelines when performing your duties.
    • You will provide advice and guidance covering a broad range of functional area to shipyard managers, engineers, health physicist, production personnel, and professional and technical personnel.
    • You will independently plan and complete assignments exercising resourcefulness to make judgement and decisions on controversial and/or complex matters.
