SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
GS-15: Applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience designing, overseeing, implementing and conducting epidemiological studies related to public health.

Knowledge and skill to develop new and innovative approaches for the use by DOE and other scientists, and to apply new developments and experienced judgement to a variety of highly complex problems in occupational epidemiology and public health practice.
Knowledge to serve as a nationally recognized consultant and expert on the state-of-the art to advise officials within and outside the Department concerning occupational epidemiology, biological event management and other public health response activities.
Knowledge and skill to provide technical support in analyses and interpretation of health studies; to assist senior staff on the state-of-the art epidemiologic research; and to advise officials within and outside the Department concerning occupational epidemiology programs and health surveillance activities and to provide program and program proposals evaluations.
Skill to serve as a nationally recognized consultant and expert on the state-of-the art to advise officials within and outside the Department concerning occupational epidemiology, biological event management and other public health response activities.

EDUCATION:
Basic Requirement: Bachelor’s or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
