    As an Assistant Program Manager/Engineer that reports to a Senior Program Manager, provides professional engineering services, and also manages/administers the work of outside contractors and consultants. Projects range in size and complexity from office renovations to major building systems renovations and capital construction spanning over several fiscal years. The major renovations and capital renewal projects are multi-discipline projects with construction budgets of $50 million or more.

    The incumbent:

    • Provides professional engineering services through all phases (planning, design, construction) of project development and delivery. 
    • Oversees, directs and reviews the work of outside consultants and contractors who work with the Office of Architecture and Engineering.
    • Actively monitors progress to ensure successful execution of Gallery projects.
    • Serves as coordinator and liaison for the National Gallery of Art’s Master Facilities Plan, Major Critical Projects, and other renovation programs including the assigned projects within these programs: capital renewal, new construction, major repair, alteration, modification, and restoration projects.
    • Implements, executes and delivers projects that comprise the Gallery’s Repair Restoration and Renovation programs, including the preparation of project justifications and associated budget formulation.
    • Contributes innovative, functional, and sound engineering principles and design ideas with significant application of the incumbent’s engineering judgment on final decisions.
