    The Registered Nurse for Quality Improvement/ Safety Coordinator will work in the Anesthesiology Department, physically located at the Durham VA Health Care System's main campus. The RN will use clinical knowledge and judgment to improve the quality of care where anesthesia is interrelated in the care of our Veterans. Practice settings include the main Operating Room, PACU, Critical Care Unit, Pain Clinic, Endoscopy Unit, the Electrophysiology Lab, and interventional Radiology, among others.

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Maintaining a comprehensive Performance Improvement Program to improve the safety of patients, visitors, and staff and identify organizational vulnerabilities and opportunities to improve.
    • Utilizing quality improvement and management science practices and tools (Six Sigma, Lean, and others) to guide and monitor the effectiveness of processes implemented in the work environment.
    • Using data to identify and measure performance and opportunities to improve, establish accountability, and monitor progress.
    • Leading programs, teams, and committees and is instrumental in driving improvement and change.
    The RN for QI and Safety will have direct reporting aligned to the Chief, Anesthesiology Service.

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
