    The Nurse Educator is accountable and responsible for oversight of training for nursing clinical staff at the San Francisco VA Healthcare System. Areas covered for these positions are in ICU/TCU and Special Procedure areas; however, our nursing educators may be asked to expand their areas of coverage to include the medical-surgical units, community-based outpatient clinics, the community living center and other areas as needed, utilizing their expertise as needed.

    Nursing educators may also provide coverage to Automated Data Processing, Informatics and Bar Code Medication Administration and be an active part in the RN Transition to Practice (RNTTP) Program and Post Baccalaureate Nurse Residency (PBNR) Program for new graduate nurses.

    Duties may include:
    - Planning, developing, implementing and evaluation education programs and activities
    - Collaboration with unit managers and supervisors in managing staff competencies
    - Provide consultation and education to medical center staff in areas such as new equipment, mandatory review, orientation and continuing education.
    - Actively participate in workshops and continuing education programs designed for career advancement
    - Function in classroom teaching environments, clinical areas and as a group facilitator during trainings

    Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 0600-1630, 10 hour tours with flexibility to provide education services to all clinical personnel.
