    As a Research Ecologist, you will perform the following duties:

    • Conduct research on benthic coral reef ecology, biology, and habitat contributing to the conservation, management and recovery of endangered corals and restoration of coral reef ecosystems.
    • Investigate threats and risks to coral survival and reef persistence through studies on coral health and dynamics, and coral interactions with algae, other benthos, water quality, invertebrates, and fishes.
    • Perform benthic monitoring protocols to improve data collection for local and national monitoring programs, and study the impacts of marine protected areas, natural disturbance, and overfishing.
    • Publish technical reports and research in scientific journals, present results at national science meetings and public forums, and consult on boards and advisory panels on coral restoration and reef ecosystem science for management.
    • Engage in outreach, educational partnerships, and mentorship of students to promote and advance coral science education.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - Up to 20% of domestic and foreign travel may be required.
