    This position is located in the Office of Inspector General (OIG), Headquarters, U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), Washington, DC. Through audits and investigations, OIG works within DOT to detect and prevent waste, fraud, and abuse in departmental programs. The incumbent for this position serves as a Student Trainee (Visual Communication Specialist) under the Chief Communications Officer within the Office of Strategic Communications and Programs.

    As a Student Trainee (Visual Communication Specialist), you will:

    • Produce internal/external multimedia productions that address our core mission to detect and prevent fraud, waste, and abuse. These products may include printed material for presentation slides, manuals, newsletters, pamphlets, handbooks, filming /editing video, and adding graphic elements to videos or reports.

    • Work on a variety of multimedia projects, including video productions, branding strategies, publications, graphics, logos, and presentation support.

    • Work closely with experienced Visual Communication Specialists on a variety of projects.

    • Assist with tasks related to production and post-production processes and gain enhanced knowledge, hands-on experience, and insight into the role of communications in keeping the traveling public safe.

    Desired Skills:

    • Effectively visualize and organize video shoots.
    • Experience with Adobe CC graphic design software.
    • Experience with Adobe Premiere video editing software.

    NATURE OF THE APPOINTMENT: This is a student internship opportunity under the DOT Pathways Program. After successful completion of the program requirements, the individual may be converted to a permanent or TERM appointment. Extensions to this appointment may occur. There is no guarantee of extensions or conversions.

    Occasional travel - Travel may be required as needed less than 25% of the time.
