    About the Position: Working directly for the Chief, Finance and Accounting Office, responsible for planning and implementing the Norfolk District's automated accounting operations, which includes providing support/customer service to district employees on system issues. Management may select at any of the grade levels, if selected the incumbent will have non-competitive promotion to the target grade once performance requirements are met.

    Responsibilities

    • Serves as an Accountant with responsibility as data manager for the Corps of Engineers Financial Management System, applying Resource Management principles/practices to perform a variety of complex financial management/accounting system functions.
    • Analyzes and reconciles installation or command-level financial reports, resolves problems, and implements policies and requirements
    • Provides system/database support with accounting data and support to budget and program managers for preparation of budgetary, cost and program data.
    • Provides assistance to the District in development, modification, implementation and maintenance of the management of the District's automated accounting systems.
    • Researches, analyzes, interprets, and applies Federal appropriations law and Comptroller General Decisions.
    • Performs, coordinates, and facilitates studies to standardize or simplify procedures and operations.

    Occasional travel - Business travel may be up to 5%.
