    With a growing number of Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries receiving services through managed care, there is a need for OIG to continue to expand work in this area-particularly work that explores whether managed care is delivering value on government investments. The OIG SME in Managed Care position will entail strategic planning and evaluation of the Medicare Advantage program and Medicaid managed care programs. This work will require expertise related to understanding managed care data systems, characterizing managed care fraud and abuse, evaluating managed care contractor performance, analyzing managed care payments, and measuring managed care health care access and quality. The incumbent must demonstrate a strong ability to build comprehensive subject expertise, perform continuous environmental scanning, engage and network with thought leaders, think strategically to develop future OIG work, and lead successful evaluation teams.

    As a Social Science Research Analyst you will be responsible for the following, but not limited to:

    • Research, evaluate and lead multidisciplinary strategic initiatives for OIG that may include setting priorities for OIG's oversight and enforcement work;
    • Execute tactical plans for promoting the implementation of recommended program improvements, and measuring and monitoring HHS's and OIG's progress toward performance outcomes
    • Ensures that evaluations meet quality standards and comply with OEI policies and procedures;
    • Provides sound guidance and expert advice and ensures that senior leadership across the Office of Inspector General are fully informed of new developments.
