    The OIG SME position in Integrity and Oversight of Regulated Products and Scientific Research encompasses two realms within HHS for strategic planning and evaluation: (1) the oversight of regulated products, which can be defined to include drugs, devices, biologics, food, and tobacco. This would encompass FDA and its approval, inspection, enforcement authorities, among others; and (2) the oversight of scientific research, which can be defined to include clinical trials, intellectual property, peer review, conflicts of interest, human subjects protections, data security, biospecimen custodianship, research misconduct, and even grants, among others. Parts of the HHS with responsibilities here would include at least NIH, FDA, OHRP, ORI, and AHRQ. This work will require expertise related not only to evaluation but also to both the regulatory oversight of products and the oversight of scientific research.

    As a Social Science Research Analyst you will be responsible for the following, but not limited to:

    • Research, evaluate and lead multidisciplinary strategic initiatives for OIG that may include setting priorities for OIG's oversight and enforcement work;
    • Execute tactical plans for promoting the implementation of recommended program improvements, and measuring and monitoring HHS's and OIG's progress toward performance outcomes
    • Ensures that evaluations meet quality standards and comply with OEI policies and procedures;
    • Provides sound guidance and expert advice and ensures that senior leadership across the Office of Inspector General are fully informed of new developments.
