    The OIG SME in Healthcare Quality position will entail strategic planning and evaluation of HHS programs related to the effectiveness, safety, and affordability of HHS beneficiary care. Prior OIG work has identified substantial problems with healthcare quality and related programs. Recent HHS efforts to promote high quality of care have focused on linking payment to value and promoting transparency. Understanding what constitutes value and holding providers accountable is a challenge for complex healthcare programs, and effective OIG oversight is critical to protecting beneficiaries and ensuring efficient and effective use of HHS resources. Healthcare Quality topic areas could include assessment of quality and safety data, beneficiary access to care, coordination of care among healthcare settings, and value-based payment systems.

    As a Social Science Research Analyst you will be responsible for the following, but not limited to:

    • Research, evaluate and lead multidisciplinary strategic initiatives for OIG that may include setting priorities for OIG's oversight and enforcement work;
    • Execute tactical plans for promoting the implementation of recommended program improvements, and measuring and monitoring HHS's and OIG's progress toward performance outcomes
    • Ensures that evaluations meet quality standards and comply with OEI policies and procedures;
    • Provides sound guidance and expert advice and ensures that senior leadership across the Office of Inspector General are fully informed of new developments.
