    This position is located in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Ocean Service (NOS), Office of Response and Restoration (ORR), Emergency Response Division (ERD), with 1 vacancy in Seattle, WA.

    Responsibilities

    As a Physical Scientist, you will perform the following duties:

    • Supervise and oversee quality and timeliness of technical support to NOAA spill response efforts.
    • Supervise and oversee quality and effectiveness of spill related research & software development activities.
    • Set program directions and priorities, supervise employees and contracted projects, and maintain a staff and program able to provide scientific support to stakeholders.
    • Utilize scientific information to develop and author scientific and technical documents and publications in support of complex and unique pollution response and preparedness tools and processes.
    • Communicate scientific information to technical and non-technical audiences (verbally and in writing) to senior executives, school students, stakeholders, international partners, domestic non-governmental organizations and academic institutions.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - Up to 10% of domestic travel may be required for this position.
