The Survey Statistician is responsible for providing statistical analysis to the RCS Chief Officer, the NSS Director, RCS District Directors and Vet Centers Directors in the field. He/she will be applying standard statistical methods which include applying parametric, nonparametric, and multivariate procedures. The selectee will consult with VA Central Office (VACO), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), National Program Offices, and VISN/Facility staff, and Vet Centers to understand the stakeholders' needs and develop solutions by applying standard statistical methods which include applying parametric, nonparametric, and multivariate procedures. He/she will design a wide range of qualitative and quantitative collection methods to perform national data analysis, data mining, reporting and program development for a variety of studies and projects related to Vet Center workloads, workforce development, finance management, and program evaluation; Producing analytical reports and studies that are made available to a wide variety of constituents, including oversight bodies and external stakeholders. Translates data into meaningful management information; Writing statistical computer programs; designs and performs computer simulations; analyzes data using probability statistics and trend analysis; Designing data reporting systems for retrieving and displaying statistical data from VA databases as well as serving as the key advisor and consultant to management in a variety of technical areas involving survey planning, data management, data dissemination, data quality, implementation of statistical techniques, operational procedures, and cost estimates.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
