    Dental assistants at this level serve in staff dental assistant positions independently performing more complex work in assigned specialties while receiving general administrative supervision, or in lead or supervisory dental assistant positions. The Dental Assistant assists the dentist in many aspects of direct patient care and performs other clinical and clerical functions independently of direct supervision.

    Assignments at this level include but are not limited to:
    • Thorough knowledge of dental assisting and procedures
    • Basic knowledge of infection control and safe instrument handling
    • Basic knowledge of common medical emergencies and vital signs measurements
    • Successful completion of radiologic safety course and examination
    • BLS certification
    • Demonstrates proper infection control procedures in setting up and cleaning operatories
    • Disinfects oral appliances to prevent cross contamination
    • Initiates computerized progress notes
    • Assists Dentist in charting findings and treatment plans in patient records

    Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, Administrative Hours, 7:30 a.m. -4:00 p.m.
