    Salary: $57,043 (Step 01) to $74,152 (Step 10)

    NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired at the Step 01.

    As a Geographer within the Woods Hole Coastal & Marine Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:

    • Collects geospatial data, processes imagery, and summarizes collected data.
    • Analyzes coastal change, landscapes, and remotely sensed data using GIS, image-processing software, and machine-learning analysis.
    • Creates topographic feature ontologies and develops GIS databases.
    • Assists in the analysis, testing, and evaluation of software systems; prepares and reviews metadata; and contributes to scientific reports and publications.
    • Operates a government motor vehicle as an incidental driver.
    • Field work which requires considerable physical exertion including walking over wet and rough surfaces, lifting, climbing, and crawling in potentially adverse or hazardous conditions.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - Average of 2 nights per month
